Course Description

This course is designed for those who want to learn how to use Adobe InDesign from scratch.
Throughout the course, participants will acquire the fundamental knowledge to design professional documents, such as magazines, brochures, catalogs, and other printed and digital materials. Through practical exercises and step-by-step explanations, you will master the essential tools for layout and composition of text and images.

Start date: May 13, 2025
Number of classes: 6 classes, 3 hours each
Schedule: Tuesdays from 6 pm to 9 pm (Spain) /
Argentina 13 to 16 hs
Medium: Via Google Meet / Asynchronous and recorded classes.

Text and Typography Tools

1. Typographic Fundamentals

  • History of typography.

  • Typographical variants and uses.

2. Text Handling in InDesign

  • Creating and editing text boxes.

  • Applying character and paragraph styles.

  • Use and understanding of glyphs.

  • Download and install new fonts.

  • Recommended font banks.

CLASS 5

1. Concept and Use of Links

  • What are bonds and why are they important?

  • Difference between embedded and linked images.

  • How to manage external files efficiently.

2. Links Panel

  • Explanation of the Links panel in InDesign.

  • Interpretation of status icons (missing, modified, correct).

  • Methods for easily updating and replacing links.

3. Advanced Link Management

  • Relocating files when they change location.

  • Use organized folders to avoid problems with external files.

  • How to fix broken links or missing files.

4. Links to Files from Other Programs

  • Importing graphics from Illustrator and Photoshop.

  • Advantages of using linked PSD and AI files instead of flat images.

5. Using Links in Documents
High Volume

  • Best practices for handling multiple images in books and magazines.

  • Optimizing linked files to reduce document size.

  • How to properly package files for sharing or sending to a printer.

6. Links in Interactive PDF
and Digital Documents

  • Creating hyperlinks within the document.

  • Linking to external websites, emails, or documents.

  • How to make links interactive in PDF and EPUB.

1. File Preparation and Export

  • Export in interactive and printable PDF formats.

  • Adaptation to complex projects and layouts.

2. Papers and printing methods

  • Different types, qualities and technical aspects of papers and printing methods.

  • Printing techniques and finishing options available on the market.

  • Debate on paper selection and printing techniques adapted to different publishing projects.
