Carla Gasparrini, 1997
Born in Buenos Aires (Argentina), she lives and works in Barcelona (Spain).
A multidisciplinary designer, visual artist, and educator specializing in artists' books, with over 10 years of experience in international publications and exhibitions. She has managed more than 50 art publications and participated in over 20 prominent events, including ARCO Madrid and Printed Matter's NY Art Book Fair. Her practice combines design, editorial curation, and education, with a focus on the intersections between art and design.
From an early age, she was involved with the visual arts, training in the workshops of Daniel Fusaro and Viviana Zargón. Between 2014 and 2018, she attended the workshop of artist and restorer Lucas Rocino, where she deepened her interest in drawing and line. In 2016, she began her Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts at the National University of the Arts (UNA) in Buenos Aires, and in 2020, she received a scholarship to study for a year and a half at the University of Vigo, Spain. In 2021, she was selected for the ELISAVA Summer University in experimental editorial design and received a scholarship to attend the Pigments Revealed Symposium in the United States.
That same year, she directed the international exhibition Espazos Cóncavos y Convexos, focused on emerging young artists from Spain and Latin America, held in Pontevedra. She also founded Hablemos de Arte, a digital platform dedicated to interviews with leading figures in the art world and cultural management, aimed at training and inspiring emerging artists .
In 2022, she completed her studies at the University of Vigo and was accepted into the Master's program in Editorial Design at ELISAVA. That year, she participated in ArtsLibris Barcelona, the Printed Matter New York Art Book Fair, and later, ARCO Madrid 2023. She also joined the Instantes Gráficos art collective, directed by Carla Rey, and assumed the role of Exhibitor Coordinator for ArtsLibris 2023/24, curating more than 150 publishing projects. She currently serves as Academic Coordinator at the Instantes Gráficos Training School, where she has trained more than 500 students.
In 2023, she was awarded the Javier Rosón Pérez Special Prize for Artist's Books, granted by the Ankaria Foundation. Her work has been exhibited in Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Portugal, and the United States. She is fluent in Spanish and English and has extensive experience with Adobe Creative Suite, as well as printing and publishing techniques.
